In alta Val Brembana, soprattutto vicino a Taleggio, si diceva che un folletto dispettoso apparisse ovunque. Un uomo di Olda, tornando a casa da Sottochiesa, trovò sotto un ponte un neonato piangente e, mosso a compassione, lo raccolse per portarlo con sé. Ma durante il cammino il bambino diventava sempre più pesante, finché l’uomo cadde a terra, esausto.

A quel punto il neonato si rivelò un folletto, che ridendo si trasformò in un piccolo diavolo rosso, gli rubò le scarpe e sparì. L’uomo, pur sanguinante e scalzo, tornò a casa fiero di aver agito con bontà e spirito paterno.


ENG | In the upper Brembana Valley, especially near Taleggio, people spoke of a mischievous goblin who would appear here and there. One day, a man from Olda, returning home from Sottochiesa, found a crying baby under a bridge. Moved by compassion, he wrapped the child in his jacket and carried him home.

But as he walked, the baby grew heavier and heavier until the man collapsed from exhaustion. At that moment, the baby revealed himself to be a goblin, who laughed, turned into a small red devil, stole the man’s shoes, and disappeared.

Despite his bleeding feet and aching back, the man made it home proud of having acted with kindness and a fatherly heart.
